Stuart champions science as the director of the
Physical Activity Centre of Excellence (PACE)
Stuart has made community outreach a key priority for PACE. The centre's team of researchers, staff and students help more than 500 community stay active and healthy with in-person and online programs and special events. PACE offers research-based exercise programs for seniors and people living with Multiple Sclerosis, cancer, heart disease and spinal cord injuries.
Effective and accurate outreach and communication of science to an audience beyond academia is now a de rigueur part of what every scientist should be doing. The rate at which misinformation is spreading is alarming, and scientists must ensure that our messages are being clearly heard. Equally important, science at McMaster is only possible through investments by private and public institutions, and, as custodians of science, we are responsible for clear communication to our stakeholders.
