Keira is championing science with the
McMaster’s Geotrails Project
Keira is part of the team of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty members who are working on a geotrails project. The team is building virtual field trips featuring trails and attractions throughout Ontario. The online and interactive tours highlight local geology, ecology and fluvial (river) highlights along the trails and make scientific information easily accessible for the general public.
Outreach and communication are essential for supporting advances in science and for expanding a scientist’s networks and learning. With our work communicating geoscience with the public, I’ve met so many wonderful people and have learned so many new lessons that have helped me grow on both a personal and professional level. I’d encourage all science students get involved in outreach projects because it’s the best way to explore your interests.
