Alex champions science with the
McMaster's Geotrails Project
Alex, together with colleague Elli Papangelakis, leads a team of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are working on a geotrails project. The team is building virtual field trips featuring trails and attractions throughout Ontario. The online and interactive tours highlight local geology, ecology and fluvial (river) highlights along the trails and make scientific information easily accessible for the general public.
It's important for us to effectively, accurately and responsibly communicate geoscience. Society is facing numerous interconnected environmental and resource challenges. These are challenges that geoscientists have solutions for and it's incumbent upon us to help people understand the integral role that geoscientists can play in humanity's future.
