Nikol champions science with the
Hamilton and National Brain Bee Competitions
Nikol and a team of volunteers from the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behavior organize local and national neuroscience competitions for high school students in grades 9 through 12. The competitions test students' knowledge about the brain and neuroscience on a range of topics including intelligence, memory, emotions, sensations, movement, stress, aging, sleep and addiction. Undergraduate students at McMaster offer tutorial sessions leading up to the competition. Every competitor receives an engraved medal with cash prizes for first, second and third-place finishes.
I want students to feel like they belong in science. With the Brain Bee, we work hard to make students feel welcome, valued and important. It's only by bringing in new talent and diverse perspectives that science will move foward.
