Carmen champions science with
Elevate: A Day for Inclusion in Science
Carmen and a team of volunteers inspire future scientists with a full day of hands-on workshops and inspirational talks by faculty and students. The annual event, organized by Promoting Inclusion in Physics and Astronomy, is for Grade 10 students, with a special focus on teens who traditionally identify with equity-seeking groups in STEM. For many students, it's their first time visiting a university campus. Carmen and the Elevate team of volunteers make sure every student feels welcome and that they belong.
It's in our human nature to be curious about the world around us. As scientists, we have the great privilege of following that curiosity in our work. Doing science communication and outreach in an accessible way means we get to foster that curiosity in everyone.
