Megan champions science at the
W.J. McCallion Planetarium
Megan introduces the far reaches of the galaxy to our next generation of scientists. Megan is part of the team of planetarium presenters who deliver custom tours to community members of all ages. McMaster’s planetarium was the first in Ontario to offer public shows in 1950. A second portable planetarium was added by McMaster's Faculty of Science to bring the planets and stars to community members who can't travel to the campus.
Working in the planetarium has been a great way to get the public interested and excited about all things astronomy. From our solar system to the mysteries of the observable universe, every show is catered to a different audience and has improved my ability to effectively communicate science. The questions from both adults and children keep me on my toes, and it is rewarding to know that I may have encouraged young students to pursue a career in science.
