Gita champions science by
sharing her research with everyone
Gita, who advocates for respectful and meaningful community engagement with Inuit leaders and Northern communities, makes a concerted effort to share research experiences, approaches, methods, lessons learned and key considerations for others to learn form and apply to their own work. Gita openly shares her research through community presentations, feasts and celebrations, social media posts, media interviews, posters for northern schools, radio shows, videos and photos.
Communication and outreach are at the core of developing respectful and reciprocal research relationships. I also believe that the results of publicly funded research must be publicly available. In my research team, we are committed to sharing research progress and results in multiple formats, to communicate our work in accessible ways with diverse audiences.
