Science Student Receives Governor General’s Medal at Fall Convocation
The other student to receive a Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal during Fall Convocation – Rashik Ahmed – was supervised by Giuseppe Melacini in the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology. “It has been a great privilege and a truly enjoyable experience for me to work with Rashik over the last five years,” says Giuseppe. “I will always remember the brainstorming sessions with him – not only great science but also real fun. This is one case in which the destination and the journey itself have both been exceptionally rewarding.” Rashik, who graduated with a Ph.D. from the Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences program, will be starting a postdoctoral fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry.
Established in 1873, the Governor General’s Academic Medal recognizes exceptional achievement.
