Student Leaders Join Strategic Plan Consultations
The McMaster Science Society is helping chart the future of the Faculty of Science.
The student leaders reviewed and commented on the Faculty’s draft 2020-2025 strategic plan as part of ongoing consultations during the fall term. Executives with the McMaster Science Graduate Students Association (pictured right) and Presidents from various undergraduate societies in Science have also been consulted, along with faculty and staff in the Departments of Chemistry & Chemical Biology,, Physics & Astronomy, and Biology and the School of Interdisciplinary Science. Consultations were held earlier in the term with Faculty Council, Science Department Administrators and McMaster’s Office of Community Engagement.
Drop-in sessions are planned for Kinesiology, Mathematics & Statistics and Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour. Faculty, staff and students can also give feedback online through the strategic plan website.
The 2020-2025 plan builds on ideas first proposed during the 2018 and 2019 faculty retreats and all-staff meetings. The plan proposes new vision and mission statement for the Faculty of Science and identifies core values and strategic areas of focus.
The draft plan will be finalized by the end of December and then used by Departments and Schools in the new year to guide the development of their plans for the next five years.
