Sharonna Greenberg receives university award
Sharonna Greenberg, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Chmical Biology, has received a 2023 President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning.
The award is McMaster’s highest distinction given to faculty members for their teaching excellence. Award recipients are nominated by peers, University leaders or partners within the campus community. Nominations are evaluated by a selection committee appointed by the president, with the award recipients being recognized during Convocation ceremonies.
Sharonna was recognized for cultivating a curiosity-driven culture of questioning with students in her courses. Sharonna also invented the Test Archive & Analysis System (TAAS). The system allows instructors to more accurately predict class averages on questions which better aligns teaching with assessments. “She is at ease, and clearly enjoys, her rapport with her students,” one of Sharonna’s colleagues wrote in their award nomination.
Sharonna and seven other faculty members received President’s Awards for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning, including Associate Professor Rosa da Silva with the Department of Biology.
