Moment Mentor Memento ep. 3 with evolutionary biologist Rebecca Doyle
“If I’m going to get this tattoo, I better finish this degree.”
Rebecca Doyle is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at McMaster University. She heads up the SyM3 Lab which explores the genomic mechanisms behind microbes’ ability to adapt and evolve under a rapidly changing environment.
In episode three of the Moment Mentor Memento podcast, Rebecca talks with journalist in residence Jeff Goodes about her research, a defining moment in her career (with a shout-out to the Ocean Sciences Centre at Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador), mentors who had an outsized impact and the memento inked on her right forearm that gave her added motivation to complete her PhD.
