Canada’s Best Compete In Brain Bee McMaster
A volunteer team of faculty, staff, and students with the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behavior welcomed 15 future neuroscientists to the 12th annual CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee held May 24 and 25 at the Psychology Complex.
The competition challenges high school students to demonstrate their knowledge about the brain and neuroscience. Top students from local Brain Bee competitions face off in the national challenge. Undergraduate students in the Neuroscience program offered free tutoring to more than two dozen Hamilton Brain Bee competitors.
Jenny Sun won first place and will represent Canada at the International Brain Bee in South Korea this September. Jenny will also get the opportunity to work in a neuroscience lab and received $1,500.
Thanks to the faculty, staff, and students who volunteered, including members of the McMaster organizing team – Judith Shedden, Ayesha Khan, Nikol Piskuric, Ellen MacLellan – as well as Angela Scott, Dan Goldreich, Nick Bock, Shane Seheult, Alexander Parkin, Esther Manoian, Matthew Berry, Joseph Oluwasola, Nisha Sanwalka, Joshua Rychlik, Haolin Ye, Jasleen Jagayat, Zoe Sinkins, Rafi Matin, Stephanie Berberian and Ryan Belowitz.
