HONORING JOAN HEIMBECKER MARCH 20: Tickets are now on sale for the 20th annual Heimbecker Memorial Cup Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m. at the Morgan Firestone Arena in Hamilton. The Heimbecker Cup is an annual charity hockey game starring faculty, undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Kinesiology. The game raises funds in memory of Joan Heimbecker, a 26-year-old graduate student who was killed on campus in an act of domestic violence in 1994. A scholarship and bursary were established in her name and are awarded annually to two Kinesiology graduate students. Proceeds from each $5 ticket sold will also be donated to a local women’s shelter.
