Our Department is dedicated to training the next generation of psychological, behavioural and neuro- scientists.

Welcome

Our Department is a leader in both the teaching and study of psychological science, neurons, the nervous system and the brain, and animal and human behaviour. We place an emphasis on teaching and learning, and interdisciplinary and hands-on research to train the next generation of brain scientists. As a student, you will have many opportunities to participate in ongoing research. Our programs will give you a strong foundation for a career or for further professional training.

Psychology is both a science and a practice. As scientists, experimental psychologists conduct research to help understand why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. As clinicians, counsellors or other practitioners, psychologists apply scientific understanding towards helping individuals, institutions, and society deal with issues relating to functioning and being happy. Neuroscientists use cutting-edge tools to study the biophysical and electrochemical properties of nerve cells, the developmental biology of neural circuit formation, and information processing calculations carried out by the brain. Behavioural scientists study cognitive processes in individual animals and humans, and interactions between and among individuals and groups in societal or natural settings.
