ARiEAL is pleased to invite one of our Scientific Advisory Committee members, Dr. Sid Segalowitz, to present a talk on “Accessing words in the Mental Lexicon with ERPs: Are words ‘perceived’ in the same way as faces and objects?” at the VIRTUAL ARiEAL Speaker Series on Thursday, May 20th, 2021 at 2:30 pm. This talk is co-hosted with the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour as part of the PNB Colloquium. 

Dr. Sid Segalowitz is a Professor in the Department of Psychology, the director of the Laboratory of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, and was the Founding Director of the Institute for Lifespan Development Research at Brock University. In this talk, Dr. Segalowitz will present his research on eliciting meaning from visual stimuli, demonstrating the sensitivity of early ERP components to words and faces at various levels of processing, and discuss the implications for lexical access.
