Heimbecker Cup in 27 photos

It’s the only hockey game where the name and number on the back of the jersey matter more than the crest on the front.
McMaster kinesiology undergrads faced off against grad students and profs in the 23rd annual Heimbecker Memorial Cup. The annual hockey game is a fundraiser for a scholarship and bursary named in memory of Joan Heimbecker, a grad student who was murdered by an ex-boyfriend in 1994. A donation is also made to Interval House Hamilton.
Joan’s roommate – Dr. Nicola Hodges from the University of British Columbia – was at the game for the first time. Dr. Hodges dropped the puck and then presented the trophy to the veteran team of grad students and faculty who won 7-6 in overtime.
