Forensic Psychology (3CC3). I took this course in my third year of the Life Sciences program and it completely changed my trajectory. It was the class where my interests just suddenly felt aligned and I knew that psychology was something I had to explore further; hence my return to Mac for this second undergraduate degree.
My research project supervisor, Dr. Paul Andrews. I had a mixed academic background and no clue what I wanted to do with my degree, and he saw potential and took a chance accepting me as a student. I would not have the vision for my future that I do today without the experiences I gained in his lab and the research skills I’ve been able to develop.
Getting my TA position for SCICOMM 3P03 is definitely up there. I loved taking the course, but being part of the instructional team was a completely different experience. The conversations I had with students were amazing (especially because it was a virtual tutorial), it intensified my passion for teaching and education, and the feedback I received from students who saw how much I cared about developing their enthusiasm and helping them succeed meant the world to me. I’m forever chasing those feelings!
My partner! He has been an absolute rock for me during every single second of chaos that university provided me with, and he continues to believe in me even as I enter yet another phase of being unsure what the future holds.
Use your electives to try anything and everything – you never know what class is going to completely change the way you approach life (and I do believe there is such a class for everyone).
